In the shelving system we find a collection of natural-history specimens, sketches, and prototypes displayed in accordance with a timeline that begins with the skull of “Lucy”, the remains of the first known humanoid. Closer inspection reveals that many of the objects are not authentic but replicas and as we follow the time-line proposed in the vitrine the interpretation of our common history seems all the more idiosyncratic and personal.
