Soft Drink Stand(2001)
Wall, slide projector, slide, light box, print, plexiglass, paint
/ work info
The installation consists of a slide projector beaming a text onto a white, freestanding wall. The text, written by science fiction writer Philip K. Dick, describes a man who experiences how the soft drink stand in front of his eyes falls apart and in the end becomes a mere representation on a piece of paper.
Inside the wall a light box is placed. This light box makes it possible for a reversed copy of the text to shine through the wall paint. The illusion that appears suggests that the slide-projected text pierces the solid wall.
